IPHONE VS ANDROID Today we're going to be talking about i-phone versus android hopefully with a fresh perspective usually here on youtube when you hear somebody talking about this subject you hear statements like android is more customizable than ios apple is more privacy focused. Android split screen support is really useful i-phone's continuity features are super useful android phones have usb-c a variety of devices always-on displays more customizable looks cameras with more megapixels and the ability to side load apps i-phones get updates. WHICH IS MORE SECURE? Android gets a bad rap over its vulnerabilities. That’s true to some extent, but not necessarily because the company is sloppy when it comes to your privacy. Some of it comes down to Android's popularity. It's way more common than iOS, which makes Android devices more convenient targets for hackers. Android powers a wide variety of devices by different manufacturers. This means that Android doesn't always mesh perfectly with the devices it's installed on. Meanwhile, Apple has strict control over the ecosystem of its devices and the way the software is implemented. Apple's closed ecosystem means the company has more control over when and how they roll out software updates. This also means that iOS devices are supported for longer, usually up to five years. For half a decade have better more premium support generally just work have better resale value have more accessories to choose from and generally just benefit from tighter integration of hardware and software and the list goes on but i actually want to either dig a little deeper or maybe just zoom out a little further and cover some ground that's maybe more interesting or in some ways maybe even more important now whether you're considering an android device or an ios device for your next phone there's always more than one reason to prefer one over the other so one thing's for sure there's no reason to trash somebody else's treasure use what makes you happy and let other people do the same. STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS So let me start then by mapping out some of the top level strengths and weaknesses for each side a top level strength and weakness on the iphone side of things is that the iphone isn't a solitary product it's deeply interconnected with other complementary apple products and services in fact i would go so far as to argue that the iphone itself isn't the real product that apple's trying to sell here instead it's almost like it's more of a feature of apple's actual product the famed apple ecosystem. ECOSYSTEM A deep ecosystem can feel like a really great feature to somebody because the more apple devices a person buys the more powerful and useful that ecosystem actually becomes the flip side though is that the costs associated with building out the apple ecosystem makes switching away expensive maybe for some people prohibitively so now a top level strength and weakness on the android side of things is its reliance on google's surveillance capitalism machine because at its heart google is not. In fact in the business of selling phones as much as it's in the business of selling ads so the more private information and experiences google has access to the more personalized targeted and effective their operating system apps services and yes ads can be now a more personalized experience can feel like a really great feature to people because the more company knows about you the more efficiently they can serve you the flip side though is that that efficiency might come at the expense of true autonomy. If your information is productized and potentially exploited on this platform can you ever truly be certain that the products you're buying and the information you're consuming is of your own free will so pick your poison because there really is no such thing as the perfect phone or the perfect company so i guess at the end of the day a lot of your decision is gonna come down to which company you trust more real quick now with all the camera comparison videos the battery comparison test the side side-by-side i feel like comparing model versus model and feature versus feature year after year is actually not quite as important as people maybe assume obviously. When we're talking about phones features do matter but the really good features the ones that aren't just gimmicks are fairly likely to eventually get copied by the other side we saw this when widgets arrived on the i-phone's home screen and we saw this when swipe controls came to android devices and honestly there are countless other examples with new i-phones i think you generally know what to expect year to year. ANDROID VS IPHONE::CAMERA QUALITY It's no stretch to call photography one of the most important aspects of a flagship phone these days for a lot of people the cameras on their phone are the only cameras they own which makes high quality versatile shooters all the more important I'm high auto with Android Central and to pit some of the very best Android phones against each other and the iPhone11 Pro we were at a great point in mobile photography where just about any high-end phone offers at least one fantastic camera and many of them have a second or even third to fall back on during our testing we used the Galaxy Note 10.1 zan droid phones on the market along with the pixel 3 which is widely regarded as having the best singular camera experience of course the iPhone11 pro and its larger sibling the 11 Pro max share a similar triple camera system with wide ultra wide and telephoto cameras we compared every phone in a variety of shooting conditions but let's start with the daytime shots where really get a sense for where every cameras quirks come in play Apple has always had an affinity for natural if not a bit overly warm colors and that's still the case with the iPhone 11 everything from white balance to exposure and fine details are usuall spot-on. BATTERY LIFE COMPARISON
The battery test and a pretty big one this is android top end phones including ew galaxy s22 and s22 ultra versus apple's so let's find out in 2022 which of these companies actually gives you more and do you know the most interesting part of this test is that it's actually answering two questions it's not just a android versus apple thing but because we've got multiple generations of each it's also going to answer the question are these companies actually improving because is it just me or do we get told every single year that smartphones just got more battery efficient and not by some small amount we get given figures like 20,30 percent but is that actually translating to 20,30 percent more battery life well if you have a look at the current battery percentage figures you can see that well no it's probably a little early to say anything yet but what is interesting is that the only phones that seem to have lost any battery at all are android apparently both i-phones are still on 100.
